Victory Gardens For Vets

Exceptional Service

We provide raised bed or flat bed kitchen gardens, vegetable/herb plants and tools needed for the garden based on space and need. Our focus area of service is Northern Virginia within 30 miles of Springfield. Once an application is approved we will survey the veterans home/area to develop a garden best suited for the veterans needs.  Working with the Veteran to determine the vegetables and herbs they use will ensure plants and space are not wasted.

More About Us

Why Gardens

Being out in the sunshine, playing in the dirt, and creating a peaceful environment where Veterans grow their own fruits and vegetables has a powerful therapeutic effect on those struggling with mental and physical health issues.

Gardening has been proven to reduce the severity of stress and anxiety and help Veterans foster a sense of community, build new social connections, and boost their social confidence.

Gardening that involves fruits and vegetables can help Veterans improve their overall diet by helping them enjoy healthy foods, thereby boosting their overall health.

David DuBois

Founder

David is an Army veteran of 21 years and understands the stressors associated with service.  He created VGV to provide kitchen gardens in the backyards of service members who cannot build them for themselves.  Through his work volunteering with Veterans for the past 25 years he realized there was a need for these gardens. David believes there is nothing better than a tomato picked from your very own plants and wants to share that with others.  He is a proud father of four, two of his daughters currently serving and husband of Laura for over 25 years.
